Description

These Sausage and Egg Breakfast Pizzas are a delicious and hearty morning meal featuring warm naan flatbreads topped with savory cooked sausage, gooey cheeses, and perfectly cooked eggs. Quick to prepare and bake, these breakfast pizzas make for a protein-packed start to your day with a satisfying blend of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 4 small naan or flatbread rounds

Sausage Mixture

  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled

Eggs

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Garnishes and Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: red pepper flakes, hot sauce, chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and arrange the naan or flatbreads on a baking sheet for easy assembly and baking.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, add the crumbled breakfast sausage. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sausage is browned and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes. Drain any excess grease and set the cooked sausage aside.
  3. Cook Eggs: Heat olive oil in a separate nonstick skillet over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the pan and cook sunny-side-up until the whites are fully set but the yolks remain runny, or cook to your preferred level of doneness.
  4. Assemble Pizzas: Evenly sprinkle a mix of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses over each naan. Then, distribute the cooked sausage evenly on top of the cheese layer. Carefully place one cooked egg in the center of each flatbread pizza.
  5. Bake: Place the assembled pizzas in the preheated oven and bake for 6–8 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove pizzas from the oven, season with salt and pepper to taste, and garnish with chopped green onions and any optional toppings like red pepper flakes, hot sauce, or parsley. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can scramble the eggs instead of frying them to make the pizzas easier to slice and share.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers for extra vegetables and nutrients.
  • These breakfast pizzas also work well when made on pre-baked pizza crusts or English muffins as a versatile meal option.
