Description

A simple and delicious recipe for Roasted Cabbage Steaks, featuring tender cabbage slices brushed with a flavorful garlic olive oil seasoning and roasted to caramelized perfection. This healthy side dish takes just 25 minutes to prepare and cook, making it a perfect addition to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head green cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced

Instructions

  1. Prep the Cabbage: Peel off any dark or loose leaves from the head of cabbage. Cut and remove the bottom 1 inch from the stem end. Place the cabbage cut side-down on a cutting board and slice it into ¾ to 1 inch thick steaks.
  2. Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for roasting the cabbage steaks.
  3. Season the Cabbage: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the cabbage steaks in a single layer on the sheet. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, salt, black pepper, and finely minced garlic. Brush this mixture liberally on both sides of each cabbage steak until fully coated.
  4. Bake the Cabbage: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 20 to 22 minutes. Roast until the edges of the cabbage steaks start to caramelize and brown slightly.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately. Optionally, add additional salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

  • Use a sharp knife to slice the cabbage evenly to ensure uniform cooking.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some smoked paprika or chili flakes before roasting.
  • Leftover cabbage steaks can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust the garlic quantity according to your preference.
