Description

A cozy and aromatic Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte that combines robust black tea with warm spices, pumpkin puree, and a touch of maple syrup, perfect for a comforting fall beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Spices and Tea

  • 3 Whole Cardamom Pods, Crushed
  • 2 Slices Fresh Ginger
  • 1 Stick Cinnamon (1-2 inches)
  • 1 Star Anise
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Whole Allspice
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Whole Cloves
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Black Tea Bag

Beverage Base

  • 2/3 Cup Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Pure Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup

Toppings (Optional)

  • Whipped Topping
  • Additional Ground Nutmeg for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Infuse Spices: In a small saucepan, combine the crushed cardamom, fresh ginger slices, cinnamon stick, star anise, ground nutmeg, whole allspice, whole cloves, and water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 4-6 minutes until the spices release their fragrance.
  2. Brew Tea: Add the black tea bag to the simmering spices and let it brew for 3-5 minutes, adjusting time according to desired tea strength.
  3. Strain Spices and Tea Bag: Using a slotted spoon, remove the whole spices from the saucepan and discard the black tea bag, leaving the spiced tea liquid behind.
  4. Add Pumpkin and Milk: Stir in the milk and pumpkin puree into the spiced tea base. Whisk continuously until the mixture is smooth. Heat for an additional 1-2 minutes until the latte is steaming and becomes frothy. Then, add the maple syrup and stir well to combine.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the pumpkin spice chai latte into mugs. If desired, top with whipped cream and sprinkle a pinch of ground nutmeg for extra flavor and a festive touch. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • You can use any milk of choice such as dairy, almond, oat, or soy milk to adjust for dietary preferences.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup, or substitute with honey or another sweetener.
  • For a stronger spice flavor, increase simmer time or add an extra cinnamon stick.
  • To make it vegan, use plant-based milk and ensure the whipped topping is dairy-free or omitted.
