Description
These Philly Cheesesteak Loaded Fries combine crispy seasoned fries with sautéed ribeye steak, caramelized onions, and peppers, all topped with melted provolone cheese for a deliciously indulgent appetizer perfect for game day or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Fries
- 1 (26 oz) bag frozen seasoned French fries
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Steak and Vegetables
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak or shaved beef
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings
- 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- Optional toppings: cheese sauce, jalapeños, chopped parsley
Instructions
- Bake the fries: Preheat your oven and bake the frozen seasoned French fries according to the package directions, usually until golden and crispy, about 20-25 minutes.
- Sauté the vegetables: While the fries are baking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and green bell peppers, sautéing them until softened and slightly caramelized, approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
- Cook the steak: Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the thinly sliced ribeye steak. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, breaking up the meat and stirring until it is browned and cooked through. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the loaded fries: Once the fries are done, transfer them to a large oven-safe serving dish or a baking sheet. Evenly distribute the cooked steak and pepper-onion mixture over the fries.
- Add cheese and melt: Sprinkle the shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese over the top of the assembled fries and return the dish to the oven. Bake for another 5 to 7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot. Add optional toppings such as cheese sauce, jalapeños, or chopped parsley for extra flavor and presentation.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh homemade fries instead of frozen fries for a fresher taste.
- For a more classic Philly cheesesteak flavor, swap provolone cheese with Cheez Whiz or make a homemade cheese sauce.
- If short on time, use thinly sliced deli roast beef as a convenient alternative to fresh ribeye steak.
