Description

A deliciously sweet and crunchy Peanut Butter Popcorn snack that combines the rich flavors of peanut butter and caramel-like syrup with light, fluffy popcorn. Easy to make with simple ingredients, perfect for a satisfying treat or party snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn

  • 6 cups popcorn (air-popped or butter-free microwave)

Syrup Mixture

  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup white sugar

Peanut Butter Mixture

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn: Pop your popcorn as desired. Air-popped popcorn is best for this recipe, but butter-free microwave popcorn also works well.
  2. Prepare baking surface: Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray and set it aside to prevent the popcorn from sticking once coated.
  3. Make syrup mixture: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the corn syrup and white sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar is completely melted and the mixture develops a caramel-like appearance, approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Add peanut butter: Stir the peanut butter into the syrup mixture until fully incorporated. Cook together for an additional one minute, then remove the saucepan from heat.
  5. Coat the popcorn: Immediately pour the peanut butter mixture over the popped popcorn. Stir well to ensure every piece is evenly coated with the peanut butter syrup.
  6. Set the popcorn: Spread the coated popcorn evenly over the prepared cookie sheet in a single layer. Allow it to set at room temperature for 4 hours or overnight until no longer sticky to the touch.
  7. Serve and store: Once set, break up the peanut butter popcorn into clusters or pieces. Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Use air-popped or butter-free microwave popcorn to avoid excess grease and to help the peanut butter coating adhere better.
  • Make sure the sugar is fully melted before adding peanut butter to achieve a smooth, even coating.
  • Allowing the popcorn to set overnight improves the texture and prevents stickiness.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep the popcorn fresh and crunchy for several days.
