Ingredients
Buns
- 12 connected Hawaiian buns
Meat Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 bacon strips, cooked and chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp barbecue sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings & Finishing
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Sauté Onions and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté until they become soft and translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute to release its aroma.
- Cook Ground Beef Mixture: Add the ground beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and mix in Worcestershire and barbecue sauces. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Stir in the chopped cooked bacon, then remove from heat.
- Prepare Buns: Carefully slice the connected Hawaiian buns horizontally without separating the individual buns. Place the bottom half of the buns in the lined baking dish to create a base for the filling.
- Assemble Sliders: Evenly spread the cooked beef and bacon mixture over the bottom half of the buns. Sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the top of the meat layer.
- Top and Brush Buns: Place the top half of the buns over the cheese. Brush the tops with melted butter and, if desired, sprinkle sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.
- Bake: Bake the assembled sliders in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the buns turn a golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, slice into individual sliders along the natural bun separations, and serve warm for the best flavor experience.
Notes
- You can substitute sharp cheddar with other cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack based on preference.
- For extra smoky flavor, try using smoked bacon.
- If you prefer spicier sliders, add a dash of hot sauce or sprinkle red pepper flakes in the beef mixture.
- Make sure not to separate the buns completely before baking to help them hold their structure during cooking.
- These sliders reheat well in the oven or microwave; cover with foil when reheating in the oven to keep buns from drying out.
