Description
These No Bake Peppermint Bark Oreo Truffles are a delightful holiday treat combining crushed Oreos, creamy cream cheese, and peppermint flavor, all coated in smooth white chocolate and sprinkled with crushed candy canes. Perfectly festive and easy to make, these truffles require no baking and are ideal for gifting or enjoying as a sweet snack.
Ingredients
Base
- 1 package Oreos (36 pieces – regular, double stuffed, or Peppermint Bark flavor)
- 8 ounces brick-style cream cheese (use 4 ounces if using double stuffed Oreos)
- 1-2 teaspoons peppermint extract (optional, skip if using Peppermint Bark Oreos)
Coating and Topping
- 8 ounces white melting chocolate (use 16 ounces if double coating truffles)
- 6 small candy canes, crushed
Instructions
- Crush and Mix: Place Oreos, cream cheese, and peppermint extract (if using) into a food processor equipped with the blade attachment. Process until the mixture is completely crushed and starts to form a cohesive ball.
- Form Balls and Freeze: Using about 1-2 teaspoons of the mixture, roll into 1-inch balls. Arrange them on a lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 15 minutes until completely firm to prevent them from falling apart during coating.
- Melt Chocolate and Coat: Melt 8 ounces of white melting chocolate according to the package instructions. Dip each truffle thoroughly in the melted chocolate to coat, then place them back on the lined baking sheet.
- Double Coat and Decorate: For a thicker coating, freeze the truffles until firm and repeat the chocolate dipping process. Immediately after coating (or after the second coat), sprinkle the tops generously with crushed candy canes. Freeze again until fully firm.
- Store Properly: Keep the finished truffles stored in the refrigerator or freezer until serving to maintain their shape and freshness.
Notes
- If using double stuffed Oreos, reduce cream cheese to 4 ounces for the best texture.
- Adjust peppermint extract amount based on desired mint flavor or omit if using Peppermint Bark Oreos.
- For sturdier truffles, coating twice with white melting chocolate is recommended.
- Use high-quality white melting chocolate for smooth coating and best taste.
- Freeze truffles well before coating to prevent them from breaking apart.
