Ingredients
Pasta and Sauce
- 12 ounces Pasta of choice (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne), cooked al dente
- 6 cloves Fresh garlic, minced
- 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional red pepper flakes, for heat
Finishing Touches
- 1 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta thoroughly.
- Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter along with the olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and golden brown, about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic-infused butter mixture. Toss well to combine, then gradually add the reserved pasta water, stirring continuously until the sauce reaches a creamy consistency that clings to the pasta.
- Add Cheese and Season: Sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta and continue tossing until the cheese melts into the sauce. Season with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using, adjusting to your taste preferences.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the pasta to serving plates or bowls. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Reserve pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency and help the sauce stick to the pasta better.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for optimal melting and flavor.
- Be cautious not to burn the garlic while sautéing, as it can turn bitter.
- Red pepper flakes are optional but add a nice subtle heat to the dish.
- For a richer flavor, use a combination of butter and olive oil as suggested.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the creamy sauce at its best texture.
