  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1–2 tablespoons orange juice (as needed for consistency)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add wet ingredients: Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract, orange extract, and orange zest.
  5. Combine dry and wet ingredients: Add dry ingredients and milk/orange juice alternately to the wet mixture.
  6. Bake: Divide batter into cupcake liners and bake for 18–20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Make frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese, add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, orange extract, zest, and orange juice until smooth.
  8. Decorate cupcakes: Pipe or spread frosting onto cooled cupcakes.
