- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 1/2 cup red onion, diced
- 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
- Drain Excess Fat: Once the beef is fully browned, drain any excess fat and return the beef to the skillet.
- Add Seasoning: Add the taco seasoning packet to the beef and pour in the 1/4 cup of water.
- Simmer the Beef Mixture: Stir well to combine and cook the mixture for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and is evenly distributed.
- Set Aside Beef: Remove the skillet from the heat and set the seasoned beef mixture aside to cool slightly.
- Prepare the Salad Base: In a large bowl, place the crushed Doritos chips as the base of your salad.
- Add Lettuce: Shred the head of lettuce into bite-sized pieces and evenly layer it over the crushed chips.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the lettuce, making sure to cover the entire surface.
- Add Sour Cream: Dollop the sour cream onto the salad in small spoonfuls, spreading it out gently with the back of the spoon.
- Add Salsa: Add the salsa in an even layer over the sour cream.
- Add Red Onion: Dice the red onion and sprinkle it over the salsa for a bit of crunch and flavor.
- Add Tomatoes: Halve the cherry tomatoes and scatter them evenly across the top of the salad.
- Add Black Olives: Slice the black olives and sprinkle them over the tomatoes.
- Top with Beef: Finally, spoon the warm seasoned beef mixture over the top of the salad.
- Serve: Serve immediately while the beef is warm and the Doritos remain crispy.
Notes
- For added freshness, you can add chopped cilantro or a squeeze of lime juice before serving.
- Use mild or spicy taco seasoning depending on your heat preference.
- To keep the Doritos crispy, serve the salad immediately after assembling.
- Optional: Add jalapeños for an extra spicy kick.
- Leftover salad ingredients can be stored separately and assembled just before eating to maintain texture.
