Description

A comforting Country Turkey Casserole recipe perfect for using leftover turkey, combined with creamy mushroom soup, savory herbs stuffing, and a blend of vegetables, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Mixture

  • 10 oz. Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 10 oz. Campbell’s Turkey Gravy
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper (diced)
  • 1 cup Celery (diced)
  • 1 cup Carrots (diced)
  • 1/2 cup Onion (diced)
  • 2 cups Leftover Turkey (cut into small cubes)

Stuffing Mix

  • 2 6oz boxes (12 oz) Stove Top Savory Herbs Stuffing Mix
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • 8 tablespoons Unsalted Butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and spray a 13×9 inch casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray to prepare for baking.
  2. Mix the Base Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the condensed cream of mushroom soup, turkey gravy, thyme, black pepper, diced celery, carrots, onions, and cubed leftover turkey. Stir everything thoroughly until evenly mixed.
  3. Pour Mixture into Casserole Dish: Transfer the prepared turkey and vegetable mixture evenly into the greased casserole dish.
  4. Prepare the Stuffing: In a saucepan, add the water and unsalted butter over medium heat. Bring the water to a boil, then stir in the stuffing mix until fully combined and slightly softened.
  5. Add Half the Stuffing to Casserole: Remove the stuffing from heat and spoon half of the stuffing mixture into the casserole dish, gently mixing it into the turkey mixture.
  6. Top with Remaining Stuffing: Evenly spread the remaining stuffing mixture over the top of the casserole to create a crunchy layer.
  7. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes until the stuffing is golden and crispy on top, and the casserole is bubbling.
  8. Rest Before Serving: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow flavors to settle before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to dice the vegetables uniformly for even cooking.
  • You can substitute leftover turkey with cooked chicken if preferred.
  • Use unsalted butter to better control the salt level in the dish.
  • Letting the casserole rest after baking improves texture and flavor presentation.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the stuffing mix with a gluten-free alternative.
