These Cheesy Parmesan Mozzarella Bites are a perfect appetizer or snack that combines gooey mozzarella with a crispy coating, served with a flavorful marinara dipping sauce.
Ingredients
Mozzarella Bites:
- 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks (cut into thirds)
Breading:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the Mozzarella: Cut the mozzarella sticks into thirds.
- Prepare Breading Stations: Set up three bowls – one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and seasonings.
- Coat the Mozzarella: Dredge each mozzarella piece in flour, dip into the egg, then coat in the breadcrumb mixture. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating.
- Freeze: Place coated bites on a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Fry: Heat oil to 350°F, fry the bites in batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Serve warm with marinara sauce.
Notes
- These can be made ahead and frozen.
- Bake at 400°F for 8–10 minutes as an alternative to frying.
