Description

Delicious and easy-to-make glazed doughnuts using canned biscuit dough. These homemade doughnuts are fried to a golden perfection and coated with a sweet vanilla glaze for a perfect treat in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Doughnuts

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (2-3 inches deep in skillet)

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (or more for desired consistency)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C), ensuring the proper frying temperature for golden doughnuts.
  2. Prepare the doughnuts: Open the can of biscuits and separate them. Use a small round cutter, such as a bottle cap, to punch holes in the center of each biscuit, forming the classic doughnut shape. Keep the centers to fry as doughnut holes.
  3. Fry the doughnuts: Carefully place the biscuits into the hot oil in batches. Fry each side for 1-2 minutes until they become golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the doughnuts and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat frying the doughnut holes for 30-60 seconds per side until golden.
  4. Make the glaze: In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the amount of milk to achieve your desired glaze consistency.
  5. Glaze the doughnuts: While the doughnuts are still warm, dip them completely into the glaze. Allow excess glaze to drip off and place them on a wire rack to set.

Notes

  • Ensure oil temperature stays around 350°F for perfect frying.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to maintain oil temperature.
  • Glaze consistency can be thickened or thinned by adjusting the milk quantity.
  • Serve doughnuts fresh for best texture and flavor.
  • Use caution when handling hot oil to prevent burns.
