Description
These Cake Mix Cookie Bars are an easy, delicious treat made from a yellow cake mix combined with eggs, melted butter, and chocolate chips. Baked until golden brown, they make perfect, chewy bars for any occasion with minimal prep time and simple ingredients.
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 5 tablespoons butter, melted
Add-ins
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the correct temperature before baking.
- Prepare the baking pan: Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking pan thoroughly with nonstick cooking spray to prevent the bars from sticking.
- Mix the batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and eggs. Stir until the mixture is well combined. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
- Spread the batter: Transfer the thick batter into the prepared baking pan. Lightly coat a spatula or your clean hand with cooking spray or vegetable oil to press the batter evenly into the pan, smoothing it out.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Remove from oven and allow the cookie bars to cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes. Once cooled, slice into 12 squares and serve.
Notes
- You can substitute chocolate chips with other add-ins like nuts, white chocolate chips, or dried fruit for variation.
- Make sure not to overbake to keep the cookie bars chewy and moist.
- Coating your spatula or hand with cooking spray makes spreading the sticky batter easier.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
