Ingredients
Brownie Layer
- 1 recipe Best Ever Brownies (about 1 lb 12 oz / 800 g)
Caramel Mousse
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce (plus extra for assembly)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups cream cheese, softened
- 3 cups heavy cream, divided
Garnish
- â…” cup bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Bake Brownies: Bake the Best Ever Brownies according to your favorite recipe and allow them to cool completely to ensure they hold their shape during layering.
- Prepare Caramel Mixture: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Slowly incorporate the salted caramel sauce and vanilla extract into this mixture until fully combined.
- Whip Cream: Whip 3 cups of heavy cream until stiff peaks form, ensuring firm texture. Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the caramel-cream cheese mixture to lighten it.
- Assemble Trifle: In a large trifle bowl, alternate layers starting with pieces of brownies, followed by a layer of the caramel mousse. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients, finishing with a layer of mousse on top.
- Garnish: Sprinkle the top with chopped bittersweet chocolate, drizzle extra salted caramel sauce over the surface, and add fresh parsley for an aromatic and visual contrast.
- Chill: Cover the assembled trifle and refrigerate for at least four hours to allow flavors to meld and mousse to set before serving.
Notes
- You can use store-bought brownies if short on time.
- For a stronger caramel flavor, use homemade salted caramel sauce.
- Ensure brownies are completely cooled to prevent melting the cream layers.
- Make ahead and refrigerate up to 24 hours for best flavor development.
- Fresh parsley adds a unique touch but can be omitted or replaced with mint for different flavor.
