Description

A refreshing Blackberry Mojito cocktail combining fresh blackberry juice, rum, lime, mint, and soda water for a vibrant and flavorful summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale

Blackberry Juice

  • 1 pint blackberries
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Drink

  • 6 whole mint leaves
  • Juice from half a lime
  • 2 oz rum
  • 2 oz blackberry juice (prepared)
  • Sliced lime wheels
  • Soda water
  • Ice
  • Garnish: lime wedge, mint sprig, blackberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blackberry juice: In a blender, combine the blackberries, sugar, and water.
  2. Blend the mixture: Blend on medium speed until the berries are completely pureed.
  3. Strain: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp, collecting smooth juice.
  4. Discard seeds: Dispose of the leftover blackberry seeds and pulp from the sieve.
  5. Muddle mint and lime: In a serving glass, add mint leaves, freshly squeezed lime juice, and a splash of soda water. Gently muddle the ingredients together to release the mint’s aroma and mix the flavors.
  6. Add lime wheels: Place sliced lime wheels into the glass for flavor and decoration.
  7. Add ice: Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill the drink.
  8. Pour rum and blackberry juice: Add 2 ounces of rum and 2 ounces of the prepared blackberry juice into the glass.
  9. Stir lightly: Gently stir to blend the rum and juice without disturbing the muddled mint too much.
  10. Top with soda water: Fill the rest of the glass with soda water to add fizz and balance the flavors.
  11. Final stir: Stir the entire drink once more to combine all ingredients evenly.
  12. Garnish and serve: Decorate with a lime wedge, a sprig of mint, and fresh blackberries for an attractive presentation.

Notes

  • Use fresh blackberries for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar based on your preferred sweetness.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and add extra soda water.
  • To make ahead, prepare the blackberry juice in advance and refrigerate.
  • Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to crush the mint and lime gently.
