- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme

For Serving:
- 2 slices hearty bread (sourdough or country loaf)
- 2 tablespoons whole grain or Dijon mustard (for bread)

Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: Season beef cubes with salt and pepper, then coat with flour.
- Cook the Onions: Saute onions until golden, then add garlic, sugar, mustard, and vinegar.
- Thicken the Stew: Spread bread with mustard and place over the stew. Simmer until beef is tender.
