Description
These Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers are a savory and spicy appetizer featuring jalapeno peppers stuffed with a creamy blend of cream cheese and cheddar, seasoned with garlic powder and black pepper, then wrapped in crispy bacon and baked to perfection. Perfect for parties or a flavorful snack.
Ingredients
Jalapeno Poppers
- 12 large jalapeno peppers
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature (1 brick)
- 6 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 pinch kosher salt
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 12 slices bacon, halved widthwise
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Jalapenos: Cut the jalapenos in half lengthwise, then carefully remove the seeds and membranes using a spoon to reduce the heat and create space for the filling. Arrange the halved jalapenos cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Make Filling: In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, kosher salt, ground black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and thoroughly mixed.
- Stuff Jalapenos: Spoon the cheese mixture evenly into each jalapeno half, smoothing the tops with the back of the spoon or a small spatula for an even layer.
- Wrap with Bacon: Take each halved slice of bacon and wrap it snugly around the stuffed jalapeno halves. Secure each with a toothpick to hold the bacon in place during baking.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is browned and crispy and the cheese filling is bubbly.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the jalapeno poppers to cool for about 5 minutes to set before serving.
Notes
- Wear gloves when handling jalapenos to avoid irritation from the capsaicin.
- For milder poppers, remove all seeds and membranes thoroughly.
- Use toothpicks to secure bacon to prevent it from unwrapping during baking.
- Leftover poppers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven for best texture.
- Adjust garlic powder and cheese quantities to your taste preferences.
