Description

Angel Chicken is a creamy, flavorful slow-cooked chicken dish featuring tender chicken breasts simmered in a rich garlic and Italian-seasoned cream cheese sauce. Served over delicate angel hair pasta and garnished with fresh parsley and Parmesan, this comforting meal combines ease of preparation with decadent taste, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 chicken breasts (about 1 ½ pounds)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 Tablespoons butter (softened)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 0.6 ounce Italian dressing seasoning packet (about 2 tablespoons)
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Pasta and Garnish

  • 16 ounces angel hair pasta
  • Fresh Italian parsley (chopped, for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season and Sear Chicken: Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken for 2-3 minutes per side until golden but not cooked through. Set aside.
  2. Prepare Sauce Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the softened cream cheese, butter, chicken broth, minced garlic, and Italian dressing seasoning until smooth and well combined.
  3. Start Slow Cooking: Place the seared chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour the prepared cream cheese mixture evenly over the chicken.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Remove Chicken: Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken breasts from the slow cooker and set them aside to rest.
  6. Thicken the Sauce: Mix the heavy cream and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth. Stir this mixture into the slow cooker containing the cooking liquid.
  7. Finish Sauce: Return the chicken breasts to the slow cooker, cover, and cook on high for another 15-20 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken.
  8. Cook Pasta: While the sauce thickens, cook the angel hair pasta in boiling salted water according to package instructions (typically 3-5 minutes). Drain well.
  9. Serve: Plate the chicken breasts over the cooked angel hair pasta. Spoon the creamy sauce over the top and garnish with freshly chopped Italian parsley and grated Parmesan cheese to taste. Enjoy your meal!

Notes

  • Make sure not to overcook the chicken during searing; only brown the outside as it will finish cooking in the slow cooker.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to taste, especially if your Italian seasoning packet contains salt.
  • For extra flavor, use homemade chicken broth.
  • Angel hair pasta cooks quickly—watch closely to avoid overcooking.
  • If the sauce is not thick enough, you can add a little more cornstarch slurry and cook a few minutes longer.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
